Taking your first IELTS test can raise a lot of questions, especially if you’re not sure what to expect when you arrive at the test centre. The good news is that the entire process follows clear procedures, and our team will be there to support you every step of the way.
Below is a step-by-step guide to what your IELTS on Computer test day looks like—from registration through to receiving your results.

1. Registration Confirmation
Once you have registered and paid for your test, you will receive a registration confirmation email. Please keep this email, as it contains important information about your booking.
2. Test Day Information
Approximately three days before your test, we will send you a message with all the practical details for your test day. This will include the exact address of the test centre, your reporting time, and other important instructions.
3. Personal Belongings Storage
When you arrive at the test centre, you will first be asked to leave your personal belongings in the designated storage area. This includes your mobile phone, watch, bag, and any other items that are not permitted in the test room.
4. Identity Verification
Next, we will verify your identity using the ID document you provided during registration (your passport or national ID card). As part of the security procedure, we will also take your photograph, which will appear on your Test Report Form, and scan your fingerprint to confirm your identity.
5. Instructions Before Entering the Test Room
Before entering the test room, an invigilator will explain the test regulations and provide all the necessary instructions for the exam.
6. What Can You Bring into the Test Room?
You may only bring items that are permitted under IELTS regulations. These include:
- your ID document (passport or national ID card) used during registration,
- water in a transparent bottle with the label removed,
- tissues removed from their original packaging,
- a pen or pencil if you wish to make handwritten notes during the test.
If you would like to make notes on paper, please inform the invigilator after entering the test room. You will be given a blank sheet of paper for note-taking. At the end of the test, the paper must be returned and cannot be taken out of the room, as it is considered test material.
If you need to bring additional items for medical reasons, such as medication or medical devices, please let us know before your test day by emailing ielts@lang.com.pl. This will allow us to make the necessary arrangements and provide you with any relevant information in advance.
7. Getting Ready for the Computer Test
Once you are seated at your assigned workstation, you will log in to the IELTS testing system. Before the test begins, you will watch a short tutorial explaining how to use the system.
8. Written Test – Listening, Reading and Writing
The Listening, Reading and Writing sections are taken on the same day, one after another, without scheduled breaks.
If necessary, you may leave the test room during the Reading or Writing sections (for example, to use the restroom), but you must first inform an invigilator. Please note that your test time will not be paused while you are away. During the Listening section, candidates are not permitted to leave the room.
9. Speaking Test
At our Test Centre, the Speaking test always takes place on the same day as the written components. If there is a longer break between the written and speaking sections, you are welcome to leave the building during that time.
Please return to the test centre approximately 30 minutes before your scheduled Speaking test. The interview lasts around 15 minutes. Before entering the Speaking test room, you will once again leave your phone and other personal belongings in the designated storage area.
10. After the Test
Once you have completed all components of the test, you may collect your belongings and leave the test centre. This marks the end of your IELTS test day.
11. Results and Test Report
Your results are usually available within 1–5 days after your test date. You can access them through your candidate account, which was created during registration. Your electronic Test Report Form (e-TRF) will also be available for download from your account.
